This document presents Meridian’s submission to the NERSA Market Inquiry into fixed charges, the Generation Capacity Charge (GCC), and other related tariffs levied by electricity distributors, including Eskom and municipalities. The submission emphasises two central requirements: first, that licensees provide sufficient, transparent information to enable stakeholders to meaningfully assess Eskom’s proposed fixed charges; and second, that the GCC framework recognise and reward alternative sources of standby capacity, beyond Eskom, to ensure a fair and efficient allocation of remuneration across all providers.
